MERCHANT SHIPPING ORDINANCE, 1899.

(Ordinance No. 10 of 1899).

WHEREAS by Section 19(1) of the Merchant Shipping

Ordinance, 1899 (Ordinance No. 10 of 1899), it is provided that

it shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever occasion may

arise, by warrant under his hand and the seal of the Colony,

to form a Court (which shall be called the Marine Court) to

make investigations as to casualties affecting ships, or to

inquire into charges of incompetency or misconduct on the part

of masters, mates or engineers of ships:

AND WHEREAS notification has been made of the

occurrence of casulaty to a ship to wit the S.S. "KWONG TUNG"

being a ship of British nationality and registered at the Port

of Hong Kong and in ownership of The Vuen On Steamship Co.,Ltd.

8 Queen's Road, West, the said casualty having occurred at or

about 6.45 o'clock on the afternoon of the 31st day of January,

1948:

NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers aforesaid

I, Sir ALEXANDER WILLIAM GEORGE HERDER GRANTHAM Knight

Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and

Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony

of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same,

DO BY THIS MY WARRANT FORM a Court (which shall be called the

Marine Court) for the purpose of an investigation into the

occurrence of the casualty aforesaid, the said investigation

to be held in conformity with the said Merchant Shipping Ord-

inance, 1899, and Regulations in Table G made thereunder and

published at page 319 of the Regulations of Hong Kong Volume I

(1937 Edition):

AND I DO BY THIS MY WARRANT DIRECT that the

Marine Court as aforesaid consist of the persons named in the
